What Does
an Advance Funeral Planning Professional Do? Qualifications No previous sales experience required, we will train; however, you must have personal traits and desires that would allow service to families with a high level of caring, compassion, integrity and dignity. You must demonstrate the ability to take direction and the willingness to try new concepts outside your traditional comfort zone. Excellent listening, written, oral communication and interpersonal skills are essential; strong organizational and problem solving skills are required; and you must be a self-starter who has demonstrated the ability to be patient and persistent to achieve set goals. You must have the ability to motivate and persuade, and demonstrate an ability to work well with others in a team atmosphere and to develop ongoing positive relationships within your community, funeral home and co-workers. The Advance Funeral Planning Professional must mirror the values and culture of their funeral home. You must be able to multi-task, set priorities and be detail oriented. Experience with use of a Personal Computer (including e-mail) is a plus. Requirements Must have a high school diploma and/or GED equivalent. Must be a licensed life insurance agent and/or have the desire and ability to secure and obtain a life insurance license (before date of hire) from the state in which you will be working. If not already a licensed life insurance agent, licensing requirements generally involve attendance at a state approved life insurance school/program course followed by the successful passing of the state life insurance license exam. Must have the ability to be fully bonded and pass a standard background/security check. Must have a valid driver's license and dependable transportation in order to travel to sales appointments. There is considerable traveling required within the market area you will be working. Licensing as required by state laws. Some limited states (please call to inquire) require a licensed funeral director to legally consummate a funeral prearrangement contract with a consumer. The duties must constantly be performed consistent with the company mission statement and values and adherence to all company policies and procedures. Responsibilities · Secure and grow market share for the funeral home represented by gaining pre-arranged and pre-funded funeral services · Grow market share by achieving a younger average age for pre-funded funeral services · Grow market share through active involvement with community, religious, social and other organizations. · Educate the community, by consistently speaking with groups and individuals about the advantages of pre planning and pre-funding funeral services · Respond to client inquiries in a timely, respectful and professional manner · Prospect daily and consistently for individuals and families to educate about the advantages of funeral prearrangement planning utilizing proven prospecting techniques as taught in the Academy of Advance Funeral Planning. This includes a large amount of telephone calling and personal consumer interaction · Schedule appointments daily to share the advantages of funeral pre-planning and pre-funding. This includes a large amount of telephone calling and personal consumer interaction · Ensure steady progress by using all lead source types. · Present to individuals (educate) daily, in face-to-face meetings, the advantages of pre-arranging and pre-funding funeral services. · Effectively conduct and close sales presentations using company furnished materials. · Generate sales through professionally serving pre-need families; asking for referrals; obtaining recommendations from satisfied clients and effective networking in the community. · Communicate progress effectively and often with the Developmental Coach and Outlook corporate office personnel to ensure the funeral home, Outlook Group and your individual sales goals and objectives are consistently being met. · Provide accurate and timely written reports on activity and results in an effort to achieve agreed upon sales goals. · Honor, respect and practice client, funeral home and Outlook Group confidentiality at all times. · Contribute to improving processes and systems at all company-sponsored functions. · Accountable to meet sales performance criteria. Skills Proven ability to effectively communicate with others; convey concepts and information; fill out detailed insurance, funeral home and Outlook Group information sheets, insurance and reporting forms; positively and effectively interact with others via telephone, e-mail and in person. Working Hours Commonly Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm. Occasional weekend and evening hours will be required. Because of the nature of the position, priorities are constantly changing and flexibility needs to be shown to accompany consumer’s time and lifestyle. Most main nationally recognized holidays are not worked.
